It’s an unusual rainy morning
From my window I look out
I wonder if the sun will shine
In my mind I have a doubt

The skies are all of gray
While darker in the far
The streets are all empty
Not even a sign of a car

I sit here slipping coffee
As my mind starts to wonder
I become lost in a trance
As I rise above the thunder

Racing are the memories
That flood from my soul
Of loved one who passed on
That left me far from hole

Precious people in my life
Gone before their time
To me it makes no sense
No reason and no rhyme

With a crack of the lighting
I come back to my senses
Yet the pain in my heart
Still has me feeling defensive

Then I thought to myself
Could the rain just be tears?
That have fallen from our loved ones
And build up through the years?

But how could heaven be a happy place?
If they could look down on my eyes
And see the tears as they fall
And my endless thoughts of why

How could they not feel the pain?
When they look upon my face
If the rain isn’t their tears
Than heaven must be a wonderful place
