Array ( [sid] => 6104 [catid] => 1 [aid] => Mick [title] => The Other Side [time] => 2002-11-02 19:30:00 [hometext] => I wrote this because of Aernby's forum "Challenge" where he asked if anyone could write a poem in the third person or if you could take to other side of one of you're own poems. Well, since the majority of my writes are typically on the same subjuct, I tried to take the other side. Don't really know if it's accurate, but this is what I came up with. [bodytext] => It’s the way he makes me feel.
He offers the love I’ve dreamed for.
But the fear is still here.
It’s why I always shut the door.
He always speaks of forever,
But will it last so long?
What if I stop holding us back,
And he realizes he was wrong?
The way that he loves me,
The way he tells me he feels.
Almost seems too good to be true,
How can it possibly be real?
How can he say he’ll love me forever?
How can he know I am the one?
Maybe he’ll decide I’m not what he wants,
If I give us the chance, once we’ve begun.
If I choose to be with him,
I have to give up what I’ve got.
It may not be all I’ve longed for,
But I’ve invested an awful lot.
Is it really worth the risk,
For me to chase this dream?
Because there’s no going back,
If it isn’t what it seems.
I search for an answer.
But the answer I can’t find.
And every time a decision is close,
The doubts always fill my mind.
Maybe I’ll put this decision off,
Just for one more day.
But when the next day arrives,
My confusion hasn’t gone away.
Yet he’s waited for me patiently,
For well over a year.
And the love he shows remains the same,
Even through the heartache and the tears.
Should I take that as a sign,
To tell me his devotion is true?
I’m so scared I’ll have regrets,
I don’t know what to do.
I’m afraid he’ll be like the rest,
Once he hears the words, “I’m yours.”
But every time he kisses me,
My heart suddenly races and soars.
There are times I picture us together,
And I like the vision I see.
But if we really were a couple,
Would he soon get tired of me?
If I decided to let this happen,
So much in my life would change.
And if by chance it didn’t work out,
I’m not sure I could handle the pain.
He tells me he’ll never let me fall.
And he’ll never leave my side.
His promises, so hard to believe,
But I see no doubt behind his eyes.
He rarely lets a day slip by,
Without telling me how he cares.
And he’s the only one I’ve known,
Who can say I love you with a glare.
But then there’s the other one,
Who I’ve given four years of mine.
I care for him and it’s hard to let go,
I’ve tried so many times.
We’ve been through so much together,
But for some time things haven’t run smooth.
After so much time with someone,
Should I really be confused?
The fears come at me from both sides,
Either way I choose.
I’m so afraid I’ll decide wrong,
And I’ll be the one to lose.

Interesting write, I wonder if you hit the mark. I think if you don't know if you want to be with someone after 4 years that should answer the question. After that much time you know or you don't and if you don't, move on.

Bravo, and I see that Erika enjoyed it as well... I didn't read the beginning quote on this and I thought I had just ventured into her site instead of yours... but then I read the top part about the forum and I figured it out (oops). Great write! I agree with everyone on here... A+ for this one!
