cascading to the floor,
the glass scattered in a million pieces,
and the sand began to pour.
The purity of the sun,
doesn't reach this desolate place,
becase in this daylight haluscination,
darkness rules this space.
The child's hand shook
as she knelt amidst the rubble,
she peered into a mirrored splinter,
and the reflection showed her double.
The remnants crunched beneeth her knees,
as she reached tentatively out,
and drew in a pinch of that silver sand,
and her heart began to doubt.
Clutching her fist up to her chest,
she softly began to cry,
as the sand began to singe her skin,
and a shadow crossed her eye.
Her heart stuttered and
her breathing waned,
as the strength left her body,
her movemets were pained.
Her life is shown in the grains of the sand,
time broke down her mind,
as the hours slip past, her soul fades out,
and her life leaves her behind.
The minutes pass,
the days go by,
but in this world where the innocent die,
they seem to drag to years.
She curls up on the hard dark floor,
her eyes slip shut for the final time,
her breath is the last sound she ever will hear,
as the shards of time,
the hourglass bits,
have sucked her life away.
She tried to face the time that passes,
but no one can face the facts of life,
the unstopable mists of minutes and seconds,
have caught us all up in our hourglass bits.
