Transcends the feeling of loneliness,
These combustible colors race past
Screaming into the atmosphere.
Flowers wilt, and people pass.
The sun will rise only to burn out.
The wind will come and go
At will, who are you to stop it.
Field mice will do what they do,
And then they will die.
It is inevitable, Death.
Looming over us,
Like a geat zepplin.
Waiting to crash into your life,
Waiting to burn its way into your heart.
But for now I will forget all that.
I will watch the leaves dance to an invisible rhythm.
I will listen to the hum of water falling over rocks.
I will live life.
I will.

Ok I absolutely love this! I'd have to say I'm thinking this is my favorite poem I've read of yours. The imagery and way in which you connect it to life is astounding. At first it seems as though the poem will have a depressing ending, but then you twist it with a sense of determination and hope. I mean wow! Great job!!!

They look very modest, these poems.

And he has a gentle cadence,
at least in my mind:
I hear the maturity of Burroughs
or Bukowski...
but the words are distinctly Dane beam.
He has poetic vision, and a gift for expressing himself in a way that is only Dane Beam.

These were worth seeking one last look,
to come back and find something I vaguely remember as inspired... and inspiring.
