A friend once said these words, when he was talking about his home (its a place in the mountains).
Sounded very poetic... so I added a few lines :)

Mountains and waterfalls
mist and rain…
soft dew on the roads that
take me home again.
There are songs that’ll follow
my steps all the way,
And under the first stars I’ll wait
and dream away…

Just for tonight I won’t dream
of sweet sunshine,
I won’t wish for bright dawns
and clear blue skies.
I want to wake up to the sound
of rolling thunder…
I want the rains to come laughing
and make new rivers.

There are winds that come from
distant waters and lands,
when the sky is the same colour
as deep passion.
The winds that are strangers here
in this gentleness…
and yet they are friends I have
met and known before.

A hundred words could never explain
what I have felt,
standing alone here in the heart
of this silent storm.
So far from myself and so near
once again,
mountains and waterfalls
mist and rain…

Atmospheric and colourful. I like the way you associated the colour of the skies with the colour of passion, to infuse the dynamic of the wind in this vision.

Very well done.

Keep writing.

Well, I HAD to come read some of your stuff after you commented on mine, and I'm glad I did. I love this poem, it makes me SO very glad that I am moving back west where there are mountains. Florida just isn't mountains and waterfalls, mist and rain.....

Thanks for getting the beauty across in your words.

Good write.

This is a lovely reflection on the world... both the inside and outside world. Beautifully done.

mountains and waterfalls
mist and rain...

I'm certain I would have been moved to write as well if I had heard these words from a friend. You would have to, I think... for the images dancing about in your head just then would beg to (and should) live on.

Loving where you took his words,
SNM

Beautiful! How well I know this feeling - I have always had a Celtic delight in mist and rain, cool, damp ocean winds and cloud. Few sights inspire me as much as seeing a sea-fog rolling in over the valley towards the end of day. And now I'm blessed enough to live in such a place. With only the lack of mountains...

Excellent piece. You've inspired me.

People think I'm crazy when it rains and I walk under the stormy clouds. But I know I'm the only sane one around.
When reading this I felt the cold of the rain, the icy wind on my skin. Thank you.
Take care.
David
