Array ( [sid] => 60442 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => LAMENT [time] => 2004-08-17 12:07:28 [hometext] => The intent is to offer hope by emphasizing God's promise of love and joy in heaven [bodytext] => Why is it that we grieve our loss
For do we forget the promise of the cross
So why bemoan the fate we perceive
For it is nothing less then His promise we receive

He will never abandon us in our earthly strife
For it is His plan that we go to a better life
Once we pass we leave behind
All the suffering one could find

For He loves us more then we can know
That is why He has a better place to go
His plan for us is not yet revealed
But His commitment is forever sealed

No bags are necessary to pack
He will take us as we came, naked upon His back
And into the heavens we will soar
Just as life hear will be no more

But fear not as this life fades away
For we enter a wondrous place to stay
Oh don't let doubt of worthiness cause you to fear
When His time comes to call on you here

For His promise He will keep
As He suffered and died on the cross at our feet
So that we may be forgiven our worldly sins
That we may someday enter in Holy union with Him

As sad as it is to say goodbye to all left behind
We may look forward with wonder as to all that we will find
And as the secrets of our life unfold
The joy of our eternal existence is ours as was foretold

Thank you Jesus for loving me
As hard as that is sometimes to see
I know you are the truth and the way
And I pray that your gift of faith will enlighten us today [comments] => 3 [counter] => 146 [topic] => 11 [informant] => Willofree [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 9 [ratings] => 2 [editpoem] => 0 [associated] => [topicname] => ChristianPoetry )

There is a great message to be heard in these words !! With a slight amount of polish and care taken towards grammatical errors, this would be a fantastic read. You lose the flow, and get a little choppy in the middle and towards the end. But the sentiment is fabulous. Read it outloud to yourself several times, and you will find the areas that could be adjusted to reestablish the pattern set up at the beginning. I hope you are not offended by my thoughts, keep in mind I am but a student of poetry myself, far from anything resembling a master ... but you did ask if I would look. Keep writing, challenging yourself with different style, and keep 'em coming. No one was perfect their first time out. Welcome to YPDC !!!

Excellent write! it's a wonderful reminder of the promises of God and I love the fact that it is very biblically based. Poems for the Lord seem to be best if they go back to Scripture.
