I'm sorry, I just picked up the phone
And my fingers started doin'
A little walkin' of their own
And before I knew it
They'd gone and placed this call

Now
I hear your voice on the end of the line
Askin' me what it is I want this time
And to tell you the truth
I ain't got a clue at all

( Chorus )

But sometimes ~
I think about you
And I swear I've lost my mind
And it seems to me whenever it leaves
It comes back with your memory right behind
I don't know what I'm gonna do
But honey to tell the truth
I'd race my heart against my mind
If I thought it'd bring me back to you

( instrumental break )

No
I don't know what I'm doin'
Parked here in your drive
Me and some buddies went out
For a drink last night
I can't recall what time I left that bar

But
It seems to me about half past ten
When the juke box played our song again
That's when my mind up and left me
But I never thought it'd take me this far

( Chorus )

And sometimes ~
I think about you
And I swear I've lost my mind
And it seems to me whenever it leaves
It comes back with your memory right behind
I don't know what I'm gonna do
But honey to tell the truth
I'd race my heart against my mind
If I thought it'd bring me back to you

( instrumental break )

( repeat chorus )

( end )

Note ~ I kinda hear a Randy Travis voice here with a Sawyer Brown, The Race Is On beat. Hi Naz,

I choose this read because it got fewer reads and comments then most of your other works. It sounds like a fun song, and again your versatility. My other agenda was to try and figure out what seems to detemine whether a poem gets read a lot. My last one did very poorly in terms of the number of reads.

I continue to enjoy your works, my friend

You are a very interesting writer... this is why I like rummaging thru older and less read poems. I liked the lyrics. Cool stuff, Nazzy.

I like this song, I guess because country and western is my favorite music. I think youre right, you should send it to Randy Travis, he'd probably sing it. Very good, thanks!!

Satisfyingly beautiful and sweet... A very good cowboy drinking song, I approve! As being a country music lover myself, I love this 'song'! Excellent write, gorgeous flow! Truly perfect!! It was a wonderful 'break-up, drinking' song! Melancholic at some parts, but that's what makes it so good. BRAVO! ENCORE! Heart-wrenching and incredibly enchanting till the very end! You're very talented, my dearest Naz. It will surely take you places. I enjoyed this very much, I thank you for sharing it! All my love. Eternally yours,

Votre douce fleur de sang
