Here I am inside a shell,
Strolling through my private hell,
Enraptured by the pungent smell,
Of rotting hopes and dreams long dead.

The cries of dying love abound,
Insanely their echoes resound,
I smile as I enjoy the sound,
Their voices screaming in my head.

Sun obscured by clouds of gray,
Hidden is the light of day,
Madness has come back to stay,
Welcome home my faithful friend,

Sing to me your song of woe,
As I walk so calm and slow,
Only you will ever know,
How this sad life comes to end.

Gone is the final beam of hope? This is so very lonely and sad. It brought tears to my eyes to read this. You write your feelings well. I can only hope these are not your true feelings and just an exaggeration of life at the moment. We all go through it at times.

Wow. This is wonderfully dark... but, at the same time perfectly real and quite relatable. I absolutely love the variance in your work... from light to dark, dreams/fantasies presented as both wonderful and painful things. Nice variances, too, in structure. This one, I think, is my favorite so far. It's got some "POW" to it--- whether read as a quiet, aching sort of pondering or as a loud kind of rant.

I know this madness myself and can understand how/why you'd welcome it's return. It seems somehow more real than the rest... and heartbreakingly familiar.

Please keep writing... and I will keep reading,
SNM
