Array ( [sid] => 59620 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Mourning Glory [time] => 2004-08-10 13:48:20 [hometext] => One of the more dark and esoteric pieces I've written in a while - not for the shallow of mind or heart. [bodytext] => Echoes peal through the room
Just barely in earshot
"Who did this?" one asks, eyes agloom
And I, the mourning glory, know the answer sought.

A silent exit to grave cemetery
Whisper to the dead they've been sent one more
To ride upon Charon's ferry
Sights fixed on Ninth Gate's allure.

Surge of power, recieve another soul
Send the spirit, find the shell
Possession of a mind dull as charcoal
The original willpower lost in Hell.

Confused eyes stare at the facade created
A few hugs, they're sorry, they thought she was gone
She is, but I keep my thoughts sedated
As carillon sounds and announces dawn.

Alarm creeps in at hearing the tune
So I nod, I smile, and turn quickly
I'm tired, I lie, I'll be back soon
And behind my facade, I smile secretly. [comments] => 8 [counter] => 200 [topic] => 13 [informant] => Eve [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 8 [ratings] => 2 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => DarkPoetry )

Stunning, dear. Of course.

The last stanza struck such a chord . . .

Exquisitely done, as usual, and twin, you're not alone. And that doesn't really help any, but it's true.

your fellow Viking,
Nora/Trudy

P.S. I appreciated the reference to the Ninth Gate . . . heh.

Only another such soul could appreciate the beauty in this piece.

I love the rhymes you used here: room/agloom, cemetary/ferry, created/sedated...such originality. All in all, this was an excellent write, but given the author, i'm not surprised.

Keep writing or be forced to ride with Charon,
-V.S.
