Array ( [sid] => 58858 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => An Echo In Time [time] => 2004-08-04 10:31:03 [hometext] => Dedicated to the 1500 plus souls who lost their lives on April 14, 1912... Their memories will live on... as will that of the greatest ocean liner to ever set sail upon the open sea... Titanic... [bodytext] => An echo in time...
The memory of a superimposed life...
Like a veil stretched over a canvas of a tragedy...
Where an absolution would never come
To end a living nightmare...
Of a life that once was...

An echo in time...
The mere apparition of a ghost left behind...
As if life and time were suddenly stopped...
And there stood still... the world... listening as it was being robbed... of 1500 or more souls
That fateful night...
In the stillness of the briny deep
There stands a reminder of those... who will never again weep ...
Some who heroically... stood that night so brave and tall...
In the face of impending doom...
In a moment of shattering silence... and gloom
While others stood cowardly by... wanting a way out...
But never to find that absolution that would never come...

An echo in time...
Living on and on... in the mind...
Nothing... but a reflection of mirrored time...
Left to reminds us all...
How fragile life can be in the fall
While being taken to a darken place...
That shall never again see another's face or ever be graced...
By a ray of the golden light of day

For Titanic was her name...
But she lives on... in our hearts and minds yet today...
Living on... forever... as just a fading memory...
An echo in time... ... ... ...

Hi all!!
Normally... I don't post comments on my own stuff... but I feel compelled to in the case...
I felt compelled to write this poem after veiwing a film entitled "Ghosts of the Abyss"...
In which filmmaker James Cameron and actor Bill Paxton went back down to the Titanic in August- September 2001 to explore regions of the ship that had never been explored b4... and places that not an eye had looked upon since being built or since that fateful voyage into the history books...
The idea for this poem was spawn by one sequence on the DVD "Echoes In TIme"... thus I sat down and wrote the above poem...
After all the years of reading and veiwing stuff on the Titanic... I had never really let it all in... I never really got it... until now....
There she sets on the bottom of the North Atlantic... 2 1/2 miles down...
Now just an echo in time....
Thanks for reading my thoughts and my words... always...
~Donna~
