Said that it was broken and bruised.
The one you were with tore it apart
Took it, kicked it, and left you feeling used.

You came to me and wanted me to fix it
Wanted me to love you true and forever.
Needed me to lift your heart from the fiery pit
Find a button to push or maybe a lever.

You came to me not believeing in true love
Not knowing if you would ever trust again.
Thinking I was an angel from up above
Forgetting I was only human with my own sin.

You came to me and I loved you best I could
Knowing until you loved yourself enough.
That even if I loved you more than I should
Our relationship would be an uphill battle and tough.

You came to me with the hopes of being free
Not knowing only you could unlock the lock.
That even if I tried with all my might, I could not turn the key
So now I sit waiting for your return with nothing to do but to watch the clock. This was very heartfelt...and so true.... Unless we can first love others, we can't expect others to love us....
