By: Kevin Smolar

Where are you God, for I cannot see,
It seems as if You have gone away from me.
I do not blame You, I know it’s not Your fault,
The world has banned You, Your words have come to a halt.

I go to school where learn and play,
And yet I hear nothing from You day after day.
I stop in the halls and I stop and look,
I see a drug dealer, bookie, and even a crook.

You and Your almighty wisdom have been banished from schools,
Without your guidance everyone will become one of Satan’s tools.
I wish I can see You, I really and truly do,
But the wise school board says we cannot have anything to do with You.

It seems as if we bow our heads and pray,
Someone without faith is going to say,
“Your praying is offending me so please go ahead and stop,
For if you don’t, I will have no choice to call a cop.”

I’m sorry God, for what our kind has done,
I’m sorry we’ve disgraced the Father and Son.
This world is going to Hell, and we’re to blame,
If You’re allowed to see me right now, my head is bowed in shame.

People are killed everyday and we all wonder why,
It is because we say we don’t need God, and that is a lie.
We can banish Him from the places we’ve made,
But I know in my heart, God will never fade.

We then ask ourselves why the world is in the shape it is,
The reason is we’ve kicked out God from what was originally His.
He gave us life and everything we needed,
His only request was for His rules to be heeded.

We’ve told Him to stay out of government and public places,
We’ve told Him to not look at us, not even our faces.
There’s one thing we can do, but we must start,
We must always keep God in the center of our heart.

Amen

Hi Kevin,Welcome to the site! :-)
I admire your words that you have put forth. You say them as if you diligently believe them, and that alone is to be commended. Your rhyme is right on target and the flow doesn't skip a beat, so my advice to you is this, Keep on writing! Live what you write, write what you live. Poetry is a well-spoken form of thought. Great job in conveying that.
Angel always..godspeed...joni

How true! I can tell this is the sort of piece that burned at the heart until you put it on paper. Keep this up!
God bless

Kevin...
This was a wonderful write. My favorite lines were:
We can banish Him from the places we’ve made,
But I know in my heart, God will never fade.
I think those words are so true.

Thanks for sharing this poem.
Carol
