Bounced from one mess to another,
People used to point & stare,
But to be honest I just didn’t care.

I have always been very upfront,
People have often felt my brunt,
I speak my mind all the time,
I don’t choose to dress things up in rhyme.

I’m sure some thought I was the devils child,
When my actions were carefree & abit wild.
But I stuck two fingers up at the world,
I was definitely not a quiet, little girl.

I’d run around like a giddy kipper,
Often Mum would have to get the slipper,
But I laughed as she smacked,
As she launched her Motherly attack.

I became out of control when I got older,
My rebellious acts grew bolder,
Drinking, smoking taking drugs,
I was acting like a heartless thug.

Fighting, staying out & having sex,
Parents didn’t know what was coming next,
They worried for my safety & my health,
But I was climbing higher on dangers shelf.

Then something happened so bad,
That frightened my Mum & Dad,
I was raped by some sick perve,
It really shook their already rattled nerves.

I was put into care for my own good,
I never thought that they ever would,
Send me away from my loving home,
I begged & pleaded down the phone.

Now I appreciate why they did what they did,
As I was more than just a rebellious kid,
I was oblivious to the dangers around me,
I was too young & too naïve to see.

But I thought I knew it all,
Thought I was truly on the ball,
I couldn’t have been further from the truth,
There goes the tale of my troubled youth.

Those years are an exciting time for some and a troubled time for others. I am glad your parents cared enough to seek help for you. So much more could have happened if they had not. Bless them and you.

Hugs,
Rita

The perspective of hindsight. This is excellent. It should be required reading for all pre-teens.

Pixie, you might have thought it was your fault about the rape because of how you were living your life, but rape is an act of control by the person doing it. You are a courageous young lady to be able to write about your experience and what you learned.
