Arrogance, and the Starless Voyeur*

I only thought I saw the sky--
Oh, I saw the colors, say,
I saw the sunset's radiance
That day: and such reds as those
I witnessed never once produced
Such joy as that I knew just then.
And by those waters, say, I stood
So nearly as to touch the sun--
So that I, by sun's reflection,
Might know the more her brilliance
In what seemed the water's frigid
Sun's antithesis: to know, whereof,
By contrast, what source was this,
What first and primal luminesce,
What birthed this earth and me.
Say, I had seen it all, I'd said,
Until this purple dusk had set:
And in the sunset's place, a single star
(besides my own) alit the water's face.

I've spent a lot of time on those shores. Wonderful write - unique in style and wording, yet a sentiment that we can all relate to.
Nice work |

Yea what FleurdeSang said =) Your words are the closest I've ever heard to music without music. I can't say I understand the connection between the physical imagery and life's uncertainties but I choose to interpret it as appreciating one's place in nature.
Beautiful and perfect, always.
*hug for being so, so good* |
