As the day grows longer and the air gets warmer,
The creature inside becomes eager,
To escape the trappings of the past,
To reaveal its new self at long last.

Out of the cocoon steps a beautiful creature,
Testing her wings that are as light as a feather.
She carefully opens and gently fans them,
Untill they sparkle like a gem.
Soon she is off fluttering in the air,
Swirling, twirling without a care.
Alighting on flowers with petals so soft,
Lapping up nectar and then taking off.
Only to find the next flower in line,
Hoping another has not already dine

As the days grow shorter she finds a mate,
Together they procreate.
Early next spring as the days grow warmer,
The creature in side begines to grow eager.
To escape the trappings of its past,
To reveal itself at long last. [comments] => 9 [counter] => 530 [topic] => 27 [informant] => Gentledove [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 27 [ratings] => 6 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => NaturePoetry )

Beautiful!
Your poem speaks to life and renewal. I myself am waiting to burst through and become the butterfly I know that I am. Thank you for this reminder, VERY well done.

The emerging of a butterfly from a cocoon always brings with it a fresh feeling of life renewed...this is such a lovely write.
