All the pain I’d written I could not see,
I was on a self destructing mission,
Between hurt & myself was a big collision.

The drink blinded my 20/20 sight,
Couldn’t see the wrongs from right,
Hate & alcohol became my addiction,
My body was ripe with friction.

My mum & dad begged me not to drink,
But I was too selfish to stop & think,
That my actions would cause hurt,
With my cravings I loved to flirt.

As I look back now it’s far too late,
I have already eaten what was on my plate,
& choose to put myself upon the pedestal,
It was only a matter of time before I fell.

Anger & alcohol are a very bad mix,
But I didn’t care I needed that fix,
To numb my mind from the cruel reality,
To stop me from feeling depressed & *****ty.

For awhile it numbed my troubled mind,
Allowed me to leave the pain behind,
After some time the pain became immune,
I felt it no matter how much alcohol I consumed.

I chose the drink over my Father & Mother,
I should have ran to her for cover,
Not hidden in the bottom of the bottle,
As it was my addiction that made me topple.

Alcoholism is a wickerd, nasty thing. I have seen so many of my friends go through this very same thing. But at least you can write about it which shows that you are deling with it and that's the best thing you can do.
BTW ...I loved the poem!

Its amazing that you can write about it.
Hope you get through it.

I liked the content, pixie. Alcoholism, and drug addiction are beasts.

It is better to write than drink. Real life can not be lived inside a bottle.

it's a good message to all readers.
DON'T DRINK!
thank you for sharing it.
i can almost feel your pain from the way you've expressed this.
... on a brighter note this is a wonderful poem!
it holds so much devistaion, but the flow is excelent and so is the rhyme.
i'd give it a BIG 5/5!
