"ONE RED ROSE"
There he stood holding one red rose!
Generous heart that continues to grow.
Fifty year old smile always the same.
All of this for an old 67 year old dame!
My beautiful friend, former classmate.....
I said, "What? Only one? You Cheapskate!"
He wasn't taken back one single bit!
My humor covers my true feelings, emotional,
I'll have to admit ..........
At 67, a widow once, then divorced........
No more roses for me clearly enforced!
I couldn't tell him then, but now I'll try.
So touching; how very thoughful, I may cry!
My dear friend was back where he belongs
Close enough to rewrite our pasts, undo wrongs
All we old dames over 60 are trying our best......
Coaching him back home, to entertain us,
at our request!
We all love him dearly, single he now be,
Wondering? Did he just bring a rose to me???
At my age who cares? Maybe he was coerced?
That's all right too!!! I know for sure he brought mine first!
(Atleast I think he did?)
Created especially
for you......
with lasting love and
memories.....
ConSue

Oh Connie, I'm so glad that you've found your special friend. After going through many bad friendships I'm happy to say I've found three of the greatest friends that have been with me through thick and thin. And that is such a blessing. A beautiful poem. |

A very touching and uplifting tribute to friendship.
I have been very lucky and I have one friend i've had for many years. It is a bond like no other and a rarity to find someone you can trust 100 % and who gives back the same amount.
I loved the quote you used at the end as well ConSue. I think it is very important to gift friends with words that tell them how appreciated they are, with actions that show commitment and love and those small gifts like a card on a rainy day are priceless and mean so much.
Friendships are the circle that makes life memories so unforgettable.

The bond of a loving friendship, the heartwarming presence of unbridled love. Oh what a feeling. Unconditional love is the best kind of love there is. UNCONDITIONAL...so one rose will just have to do! lol
Are you kidding, to me one rose is the SYMBOL of unconditional love, sooooooo hold on to that heart!!!!! @-->-->-- A rose for a friend! Great writing!!!
Angel always...joni |

One red rose indeed...never let it be said that romance dies in the old nor is it he exclusive province of the young... ha ha ha okay for the sake of pc never let it be said that romance dies in the mature and aged....ha ha ha ha ha ha. I am reminded of a dialouge from a movie 'Excalibur'....paraphrased..' I have always thought that in this the hereafter of our lives... I would hold you to me and be for as a husband is to a wife.. living the remainder of our lives beside each other... bereft of all cares of this world..' or somthing like that...ha ha ha romnc eor old people...ha ha ha |
