so many can't see.
And we're all surrounded,
by this world so unworthy.

It soaks our hands,
our new skin layer.
It eats away our existence,
makes us continually weaker.

And we're connected through the miles,
brought together by our pain.
And we're all trying vainly to hide
that ever growing, reddening bloodstain.

And what could make us stronger?
What could save us from ourselves?
They're all darkening our lives,
they're killing us themselves.

I can see our mark growing,
the blood flowing, staining the ocean.
I can see our faith failing,
our voice wailing, moved into action.

Too many of us bleed,
it covers our eyes, I can't see.
Encroaching like a weed,
it's all we can do to be. [comments] => 3 [counter] => 154 [topic] => 13 [informant] => waos [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => DarkPoetry )

I agree completely. As a former cutter I am also amazed by the number of others that were or are cutters. The circumstances may be different but there are so many other things that we have in common. This is a subject that is not widely discussed but I am glad you have addressed it. Wonderful job. You have intrigued me.

Dear Woas,
'tis true that you find companionship with those that are like.
I was never aware of this until some of the poets brought it to my attention.....you do have a bond with each other.......I hope you can use your friendship to build each other up, and support what it is that you are trying very hard not to do
This poem was written with sincerity and truth.
Please be careful with yourself
Love
consue

wow! it seems like we are very much alike, i too once was into self mutilation, it was only just 4 yrs ago, but i've turned around completely, but it still haunts me that i actually did it, i watched my cousin do it over a girl and realized that this isn't right. but i'll admit it's very addictive, got my mind off my heartache and onto my bleeding cut. i never thought of writing a poem on it though. this poem is a job well done. it's so true. well keep writing you got talent.
