Memories of Grandpa

Contributed by brokensoul on Monday, 19th July 2004 @ 12:30:21 PM in AEST
Topic: Grief

its not the same without you
your absence is so clear
thinking of your eyes, so gentle
which brought another tear

it took so long to realize,
in the morning you wouldnt be at the table
no more talking all through your dinner
these thoughts have caused me to grow unstable

you would always find a way to make me laugh
no matter how id been upset
when you were angry your gentle eyes would turn so cold
we hoped you wouldnt find what we had broken...yet

i remember the day i came home
found out your simple cold turned out to be lung cancer
i was so angry you hadnt gone to the doctor sooner
every night i prayed for Gods help... awaiting an answere

the night before the surgery
at dinner i said a little prayer
i will never forget the way your face lit up
i wil never forget your thankful stare

that was the last time i ever saw you
your surgery was the next day
in late afternoon everyone came home silently as daddy put his arms around me
i already knew what he had to say

Grandpa i just want you to know how much i love and miss you.
your memories will be with me always.
