He taught me how to breathe

There’s a story about you somewhere
Am I everything you hoped for?
So I’m forgetting what it is,
To be the ***** up version of the correct way to live
And you don’t care
Sometimes I think too much and forget how to breathe
And we walk past everything,
Gradually we break into a run
And run away from what we sorrowfully call life
What we call death
There’s a story about you somewhere
You remind me sometimes, when I stop breathing
And my heart begins to beat again
As all thoughts turn to you
I see you
Standing here, feeling your inner strength in the palm of my shaking hand
Every single imperfection completing you
Completing me
There’s a story about you somewhere
So that it’s known how you manage to help me survive
How you manage to encourage me without saying a word
There’s a story about me somewhere too
Only no one would tell it better than you
Whispering “no more pain” towards the heavens
Wondering if God will soothe the pain in your chest
As you sob heavily into the night
There’s a story about you somewhere
That one day I will read
That I will secretly title;
‘He taught me how to breathe’
