Grief

So you've got your shield
And you've got your sword
Now collect your savior
And walk out my door
You've drawn your lots
And arrived at my door
But I refuse to be drafted
Into your holy war
You shunned me for reasons
All of which I’m not sure
But the one that I’m certain of
Is that my god is not yours
Now you and your friends
You treat me with scorn
I feel like a stray dog
Or a Garment that's torn
Be the martyr
Forget what you used to adore
I've tried to settle our differences
But I won't anymore

Not sure if I am enterpreting this right, but I dont think that it belongs in grief/tragic poetry. I sense alot of anger and frustration, alot of bitter repose. Someone who wants to be who they are and accepted instead of outcasted. A very good write though. |
