Array ( [sid] => 56582 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Far From A Holiday Poem [time] => 2004-07-17 23:50:02 [hometext] => parody of the night before christmas. personally i think this is a bit strong for only my second post but meh. i came up with a few of the lines and then just had to finish it. tell me what you think [bodytext] => ‘Twas the night ‘fore another and all through the house
A fire was raging that no water could douse
The skeletons were filed in the closet with care
In hopes that come morning they’d no longer be there
A lone child is lying restless in their bed
While visions of peaceful life dance in their head
Their whole life, like glass, has fallen and shattered
The parents don’t bother to ask what’s the matter
Their life, they could end it as quick as a flash
To them there’s no other way to heal this gash
If only their worries could all disappear
The end of a short life would not seem so near
So almost every day we hear on the news
About a youth whose life was taken by booze
Or perhaps by a gun or the drugs in town
How can we protect them from the things around?
Too often we ignore them, it’s a simple quirk
But maybe if we listened to them that would work
We all have to help them raise their eyes from their toes
And try to instill in them that on life will go

So now as the image drifts slowly out of sight
Remember what you have read and to all, a good night.

WOW!! I loved the way you merged a very important lesson with a well known piece of work.... It was an enjoyable read but the message was clear and strong....
Great having you aboard the YPDC family...
