Life's a fever
A cold sweat
In the middle of the night
Fighting for your life
A coughing fit
One tonic after another
The hot flashes
And cold splashes
Of water from a rusty sink
It's a bandaid on a broken leg
A crutch you don't need
Because it’s only a headache
One bottle, two bottles
Push down and twist the cap
Call the doctor
You're fading fast
Miracle cures and promises
Every disease you don't catch
Your neighbor has
Read the papers and cross your legs
No sex for fear of aids
Eat your greens and sip your tea
Don't eat meat
Soy milk and dried banana chips
The food pyramid of do's and don'ts
Regret not what you do, but what you won't
On your death bed
Say your prayers
Lord knows it's the first time in how many years
Life passing before your eyes
It's a surprise
Coming out of nowhere
It sneaks right up on you
Life is short
Smell the roses
But don't step on the grass
Life's a disease
But death knocks you on your ass
Vitamins pills, medicine bills
Writing your will
Inheriting ills
Passed down the generations
Every infliction raises suspicion
The doctors question and test
Poke, prod, and press
Your grandpa had it and so can you
A true inheritance is not what you have
But what you have to loose
Life is simple
You just got to live it
Each day a symptom, something new
Take your medications
But remember there is nothing they can do
Life’s a fever
Hot and steady
Death will cure you when your ready
