Are you ignorant or are you one that gives?

What about that kid hiding in the lane.
Does he have shelter, any cover from the rain?

Why does he run, can you tell me what he seeks?
What is that secret in his heart that he keeps?
Is there a reason why he's alone when he weeps?

I walked home from work, just the other night.
I looked into his eyes and saw nothing but fright.

Was he twelve? I do not know.
Trust in his eyes he could not show.

All i could see was fear within.
How could this be, a life to begin.

As i knelt, i felt fear in myself.

"Boy, where do you sleep?"
Pointing to a box, in a doorway. His eyes began to weep.

"I have a firend, his home he shares."
The boy points. I look to see who it be, a chance that some one even cares.

i see an old rug, barely a thread.
Beneath an old bum, "My friend, he keeps me fed."

I ask, "do you have a home, where do you come from, why are you alone?"
"My dad says, if i tell, pain i will be shown."

"Your dads not here, where is your mum?"
Sad eyes he says, "Dad said she lives with the sun."
He speaks, "Nine sleeps, here i have been."
His family he has not seen.

The police i call, my home i will give.
No not you they say "Cause alone you live."
"He must travell the system, the process he must follow."
And live a life, no love and hollow.

Cared for by a hobo... From whom his time will he borrow?

This is a sad tale of the truth that lay on the streets. Our fellow poet "Lost in Myself "has penned a most beautiful write on a homeless girl. Try reading that one too.
Your words speak many volumes to the need to reach out to the homeless.
Great compassionate write!!!
Angel always...joni
