Array ( [sid] => 55956 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Sleeping with open eyes [time] => 2004-07-13 06:39:48 [hometext] => Based on my childhood when I had insomnia. I wrote it like 5 minutes ago though. [bodytext] => Would you believe me if I told you
That I’m afraid
I know that you don’t want to believe it
As I curl into this ball of hate at the end of this bed that never sleeps
I am fear
Begging you not to turn out the light
You wish I was bold and brave
And with the same passion, I wish you’d stay

I know how tired of me you’ve become
And that you no longer have the will to care
That every night I cannot sleep
In fear, when I wake up you won’t be there

Would you believe me if I told you
That I’m scared to death
That maybe if I stay awake you won’t leave
As I lay here becoming another irritation that you cough up as you sleep
I am fear
Begging you to reassure me you won’t go
You wish that maybe I’ll sleep this week
And with the same passion, I wish you’d stay with me

I’m sorry that you’ve become so tired
That I haven’t slept for the 14th night in a row
That I have an illogical insecurity
That maybe one night you just might go

One night when you reassured me
I let go of my worries and finally slept
On that night, I slept so peaceful
You betrayed me and you left

Tonight I will sleep tonight
Something I no longer fear
Because as you lay asleep in the next room
I know you’re not really here [comments] => 2 [counter] => 178 [topic] => 48 [informant] => carmen_queasy [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 8 [ratings] => 2 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => EmotionalPoetry )
