Array ( [sid] => 55862 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => leaveleaving [time] => 2004-07-12 15:46:32 [hometext] => this is to my mother, who is sending her oldest child of 18 off to the military here in a few months...she's writing letters and invitations out to family with a picture of him with the new of his being recruited.. [bodytext] => And she seals her child into an envelope.
again.
saying good-bye.
sighing i'll miss you.
crying i love you.
simple letters to people who don't really care;
they won't see the empty bed.
they won't keep his picture under their pillow.
they won't miss him.
The invitations on fancy paper.
beautiful paper.
with beautiful words.
a beautiful let down.
a beautiful farewell.
Giving his young face to too many people.
They should be hers.
She should be copying them herself.
But she would hate to seem selfish.
Even though it's true,
no one loves him as much as she.
His face changes.
He's 3.
No, he's 10.
Oh, he's 16.
Oh dear, he's 1.
She'll smell everything he owned.
Cherish every bit.
because he's leaving too soon.
And just because he's ready.
Does not mean she is.

this is beautiful.
i love it,
i can feel the sadness, the pain -
and the amazing thing,
is you aren't even his mother
oh this is wonderful.
and you're wonderful, truly.
