From the land down under a story I will gladly relate
The great story of Little Bub who was my good mate
A brave tiny Aussie Fairy who was flying happily about
Who got stuck fast in a spider web and couldn't get out
He wriggled and heaved giving many a big bouncing fling
Slowly he struggled free at last, hurt with a badly torn wing
He fell a long way down to the ground with a loud thump
The little fairy’s clothes dirty, Little Bub rolled up in a lump
Lying there all breathless, not moving and giving a low moan
He sat up and thought of how many miles from home he’d flown
Brave Little Bub did not cry a single tear or give up hope
He said to himself I will be so brave and learn how to cope
Wiping the dirt from his face tidying his hair with a little comb
And gently holding his sore wing he slowly headed for home
Off down the bush track through the thick paper bark trees
The sun slowly sinking in the west, he started shaking at the knees
For night animals were moving around in the grass and bracken
Darkness of night was coming but he never let his courage slacken
And slowly hobbling down the dark track, gingerly picking his way
Wondering if he would see his home and friends before the next day
Then, eerie bobbing lights behind the trees, Oh! Oh! What could it be?
Echoing from out of the dark bush a loud call came, Cooeee! Cooeee!
It was Wattle, Blue and Jumbuck, each with a firefly lamp a-glowing
Looking for him as he didn’t come home and fear for him growing
Brave Little Bub a tear in his eye shouted gladly I’m here! I’m here!
The three fairy rescuers saying we are so happy to find you safe my dear
Kind Jumbuck then saw how badly he’d torn and hurt his sore wing
Quickly opening a first aid box got some healing ointment and a wing sling
Off home with Wattle and Blue for support, Jumbuck leading the way
At home Little Bub was safe at last and the old Fairy doctor did gently say
With a magic wand wave and a mystic spell you will be as good as new
Waving his wand saying the magic words “zippidy do” I’ve healed you!
There is only one small thing I can’t fix , in your left wing is a tiny rip
So next time you fly, don't touch sticky spiders webs with your wing tip
And now your name must be changed from Little Bub to Torn Wing
The bravery of this Aussie fairy is now told in every magical fairy ring
Well my dears this how Torn Wing got his name and was saved as well
And For my Aussie Fairy Mate I got the honour of his brave story to tell.

Thank you for sharing this piece with us. I am quite the lover of the wee folk. This is tremendous. I cannot wait to read it to my grandchildren. We have another fine poet on this site named Bernard that fills the childrens lives with beautiful tales of the fairies and wee folk.

Smiles,
Rita
