Array ( [sid] => 55634 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => half-life [time] => 2004-07-10 17:22:22 [hometext] => written from a family member's perspective. my heart goes out to her. [bodytext] => Come suck on me from my cold, clinical bedside.
The cobras do. Every night, they come...
To kill me.
And every night they succeed.
I don't understand. I've tried so hard.
But they still come.
Riding tall, dark silhouettes that blur and fade at the edges.
Electric red eyes bobbing towards me,
Closer and closer, in and out of focus
Until fang pierces vein and
Again, I give in to the pain
As the venom sinks in deep.
Remembered...the snakes are a pair
The other finds perfect flesh
Near the top of my arm
They finish and let out a horrifying mechanical screech.
Excruciating hurt rolls from my puffy eyes.
Let it end tonight. Let it end.
And every morning, I awake,
Crying because I can't escape.
I'm morphined, muzzled and weak
I'm too destroyed, to swollen to speak, let alone
Bite back.
Blinded and shocked by bright white that flashes and whines at me.
Can no-one see it?
I don't even know that my soulmate is selling my beautiful paintings to keep us here.
Portuguese landscape saved us before.
Let it help us again. If I get through.
Families must stick together.
If only my shrivelled body could see them caring for me.
But it can't.
It can't see any of it.
My canvas is dark and blank now
Spashed with nightmares, hallucinations,
Chemicals and dangerous waves
Encircle me
I am slave to my half-life
And I do not wish it so
Let it end
Let it end
Let it end. [comments] => 3 [counter] => 145 [topic] => 23 [informant] => dolly_dagger [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 10 [ratings] => 2 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => FamilyPoems )

It is heart-wrenching to know she has to endure all of this. Hopefully, in the end, it will all have been worth it to see the sunshine on her face again. God bless her and all of your family during this time.
