Array ( [sid] => 55623 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => A family that sinned [time] => 2004-07-10 15:43:23 [hometext] => I'm a particularly happy and up beat person so this poem was a bit...different when it popped out. [bodytext] => One fist hit the wall
the other hit the bed
the mattress gave to his fist
but the wall slowly bled

White paint smeared with red
knuckles chipped with white
i hid behind the door that evening
pale with the fright

It was my company
as i backed up out of view
Closing my eyes, I held the tears
for there was nothing they could do

Mom always said it was the rage
Dad wasn't at fault
but her words where always hollow
after each assult

This last time, it was different
her words weren't quite clear
Thick with blood and thicker things
she whispered in my ear

"It's the rage, he can't help it.
But i can help you.
Sorry Honey,he doesn't mean it.
It's about time
you knew."

"Once i loved your father,
and he loved me as well.
But one night, i cheated on him
and every sinner goes to hell."

I didn't cry, I only listened.
"Get up Mom, we have to go."
She shook her head and gently said,
"I should of left a long time ago."

"We can go now, go together.
Just stand up, and lean on me."
My voice cracked with unsaid anger,
along with fear, we had to flee

She raised her hand, her fingers broken
and only shook her head.
Closing her eyes, her breath grew slower
her heart beat drummed to the beat of the dead.

All at once, my anger lashed
I remember it so well
but solace favors me a little gift
when i remember he's now in Hell.

Perhaps he is with my mother,
For both of them carried a sin
and i'm sure that i will join them
when i weight my own in

Taking after both my parents,
I sit here with my knife
With rage i murder my soul
and with one plunge, i cheat my life.
