From the mirror so complete,
Eyes young, bright and hopeful,
With a new world at her feet.

With so much life before her,
Daily new adventures sought.
Her life was young and carefree,
Wondrous life to her was brought.

Through the eyes of her twenties,
Adventure to her life did bring,
Her love she gave unto to another,
And in her eyes her heart did sing.

But soon those eyes knew heartbreak,
The mirror streaked with tears of woe,
Her love and heart were broken,
Through her eyes the pain she showed.

Her thirties eyes were much wiser,
With more care her heart she toyed,
Till she found the true love of her life,
Her tear-filled eyes were overjoyed.

The love filled eyes of a new mother,
With the fears that a new life brought,
Determined to be the best she could,
Was the reward that her eyes sought.

Through the forties and eyes of fifty,
Came the wisdom and care within,
Demanding of life and all it gave,
For her own child in life to win.

Through her weary eyes at sixty,
Showing hardships tiresome toll,
Determination glowed deep within,
She, never erring from her role.

The sad tired eyes in her seventies,
Knew the pain of life’s tragic end,
Her loss so deep set within her,
Of her lifelong mate and friend.

The wise weary eyes of her eighties,
Looking back on her life that’s gone
On all the moments she has known
And to her memories she is drawn.

But deep within her wrinkled eyes,
Still glowed with an inner cheer,
As grandchildren gathered round her,
Drawing her back to her teenage years.
