I'm Sorry, I Know, I Hope

I'm sorry that I love you
I'm sorry that I care
I'm sorry that I get excited
breathing the same air.
I'm sorry I can get enough
of everything you are
It's too late to deprive my heart
of the feelings it's carried so far.
I know that you love her
I know that you'll marry, and
I know that to live my life
without you would be scary.
But even if I only have
you as just a friend
that will be enough for me
so I could breathe again
I'm sorry for what others say, and
I know it's not my fault
there's really nothing I can do
'cause hey, we're all adults.
I know they put you on the spot
sometimes it just ain't right
But anyway I get to have you
Even small, it means a lot
I hope you don't forget me
When you start you new life
I know it might be hard to
compared to your new wife.
I hope nothing but the best for you
that's just the way I am
But I'll be here just thinking of you
Holding on as long as I can
I know you might not read these words
I'm sorry to feel I must hide
But I don't want to ruin your happiness
while I am dead inside
I hope when you exchange your vows
it lasts for eternity
Unless perhaps by fate or chance,
some other way's meant to be
Until that day I'll wait for you
and if that day never comes,
I'll try my best to start anew.
Who could have thought a silly crush
would eat away at my heart?
It proves a crush is rightly named
with these emotions tearing me apart.
I'm going to come to a screeching halt
before I say too much
but nevermind, already done,
I always do it as such.
