[hometext] => The ghosts from the past appear in the most unexpected places.
[bodytext] => The Child That Wasn't There Today I saw a child sitting alone on a parkside bench, with curly dark hair and a warm willing smile. A story book and doll in her arms were clenched. I didn't see her father, or that her mother were anywhere about, so i watched with interest, to see all that I could see. What would this child do...would she become afraid and shout? She only sat there quietly, then suddenly began to sing a tune, one that I easily reconized and silently hummed along. T'was a catchy one, and as she smiled, I wished that there was room, For me to sit beside her and read with her that story book, perhaps play mommy with her and her little dollie friend. So, I stepped forward... to get a closer look. But as I did, for a moment...I somehow looked away, from the park bench upon which she sat. In my upward glance, I noticed...she didn't stay!! Was she really there at all, or was this child only me as I was many years ago? Sitting quietly waiting, for me to set her free? Perhaps she was a ghost from my early past, come to visit for a while and take me back in time. Oh, the child is no longer there, but the memory will forever last. Author: June E.
