Array ( [sid] => 54790 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => HOW DARE YOU [time] => 2004-07-04 23:01:42 [hometext] => I wrote a poem called Down By The Old Mill sometime ago......it was about my first love, and how he had hurt me, after 50 years, at my class reunion he tried to hurt me again! This time I was ready and wiser. [bodytext] =>

"HOW DARE YOU!!!"

I remember well, down by the Old Mill.
You left me with a bruised heart, loved you still.
Emotionally manipulated by your anger.
Handsome, confident, couldn't be surer.

Fifty years have passed, they're gone.
How dare you think my love for you lingers on!
How dare you play again with my heart.
Puppet on a string, played well my part!

Pulling my strings with your anger no longer works.
Emotionally unattached, not affected by your slimy smirks!
My antenna like heart, I knew you were mean!
Narcissistic King, I'm no longer your Queen.

True love is not a game to be played.
'Tis not a guessing game, like Charades.
Love involves people's hearts, feelings, their well-being.
A blending, A molding, A calming, A steady linking.

The Old Mill where once we met has been torn down.
It's stream has now dried, nothing left, not even your crown!
I shutter to think what might have been.....
Thanking you much for showing me what I suspected,
your unloving heart within.

I still love to dance at 67, with maturity now.
My heart read you right when you broke your vow.
Thanking my lucky stars and My Creator as well.
I could have tried dancing with you for a lifetime......
I bid you Farewell!!!

What a powerful piece. You have a great strength in you to stand for what you believed in and hold your ground. I admire you for that. What a jerk to treat you that way. Well it all came out wonderfully in words. :)

Now, I'm quite sure that God intended for me to read this today. I have known my share of cowards, that is for sure. Thank you for a strong and insightful write.
