Array ( [sid] => 54773 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => GOODBYE [time] => 2004-07-04 20:11:47 [hometext] => I wrote this poem about my addiction and how i wanted to get clean i am 90 days and counting [bodytext] => As i walk down this lonely road I think back
to days gone by, and I remember all the
laughter and the tears. We have been
together for so long that i can't see myself
without you. Thats what you wanted anyway
for me to be dependent on you. All those
times I tried to leave you would let me go for
awhile but then you would start calling me back to you. And I would try to tell you no
but all those pretty words and pretty places
would get me right back by your side. Each
time I would come back it would get harder
and harder to leave but you were counting
on that werent you. You wanted me all to
yourself, you kept at me until I turned my
back on my family and my children you
dident care you just wanted to see me
crawl and this last time you got what u wanted
I crawled but surprise I did not crawl back
to you I crawled away and found someone
that will help me get back on my feet again
away from you and your darkness because I
have been there for way too long. so i am
written this letter to tell you goodbye I dont
want or need you in my life any longer. I know this is hard I can hear you laughing and
saying you will be back you always come back but not this time I dont know where this
road is taking me or what i might find along
the way but it has to be better then where
I have been with you. So i say goodbye
to yesterday and hello to today [comments] => 4 [counter] => 197 [topic] => 52 [informant] => babygirl2004 [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 9 [ratings] => 2 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => goodbyepoetry )

Congratulations! 90 days is an awesome accomplishment. "AND COUNTING...." ... oh... that's the best part!

My hat is off to you! Such a powerful letter. I know for you it must have filled you with a number of emotions as you wrote it. Mixed emotions. I do hope that you included PRIDE among them.... you certainly deserve to. Again, congratulations! And thank you for sharing this! I truly do feel honored to have been able to read it!

The best of everything to you... may you keep count on for many, many more days.... forever,
SNM

It sounds like it's been an uphill battle... The way this poem is written though, you give it a kind of universality, like it could just as much be talking about going back to an abusive boyfriend as it could be about drugs or other things... As a former addict myself, i'm kind of curios about what it was that you were addicted to that led to this wonderful poem... Whatever it was, it sounds like the tethers are broken, and you're mind is finally your own again. Keep up the good work. Sincerely, Butterat Zool.
