down to the heart of the matter
so here i sit, just gettin' sadder
put all the memories in the box
take them out again, lay them by my socks

there are people in your life
who have left you down
that it would never have made a difference
if they had never been around

not how it was for my soulmate and i
he had my love with the first wink of his eye
i saw him across a room
and my heart i tell you, it swooned

in the dark of the night
is when this energy comes to me
this mystery of life; how
much i loved being his wife

he was so beautiful
all we wanted was a chance
to watch our kiddlings grow
and when old have that last dance

i do not begrudge those who
have their mates
it is no ones fault, how
blows the winds of fate

one of us is dead
and one of us is crazy
one of us is riding the moonbeams
whilst the other lives on dying dreams

we exchanged rings
with a kiss and a promise of forever
both wanting only simple things
the intangible; that wealth will not bring

by day i am alright
i do not mean to make you blue
by these things i say and write
but it all has to come out; its true

so i try to get down to the heart of
this matter at hand
and i wonder as my mind wanders
how much of these memories can i stand

i place his urn back on the shelf
dust him off and put his pictures away
they will be there to break my heart and soul
any other old day

We never really lose the ones we love. Feel secure that each and every one of us feels your pain and loss through your poetry. Could this possibly be an anniversary of something? I find that is when I get the most depressed. (((((Ladyfawn))))) Peace to you.

Dear sweet friend whose words always make me smile, you are in my mind, my heart and soul, prayers of you and your sweet love, to the one who listens and sits above.

May your nights be filled with the dreams of that sweet love and may he hold you so close each and every night, never letting a tear fall, never letting you our of his sight.

@};------------ a rose to you, you have given me so very many.

Chris

Seeing others comments, and knowing how your words made me feel... I know that you will leave just as much of a legacy on other's hearts as he has left on yours. Thank you for sharing that one with all of us.

it is good to remember him and the good times you had together - and it is okay to be sad too - but don't stay sad too long, you know he would not want you to be sad.

hugs

I don't have the words to express how saddened I am for your loss. I know that If I ever lost the love of my life I would be devastated. Your poem was beautifully expressed. *hugs* to you for your brave write.
