Sitting down for dinner yesterday evening
I noticed that while I was comfortable in my chair
Ready to feast on what looked like a delicious dinner
My wife was still busy doing last minute things in the kitchen
Getting drinks, napkins, condiments, etc… for her family
I looked over at my son, who at this time was digging into his food
Enjoying being waited on hand and foot

It occurred to me just how many times as a child of a large family
Did I see my mother sit down at the dinner table with us
To enjoy the fruits of her labor
Other then special occasions probably not many times
All too often she was still in the kitchen ensuring her family was taken care of
And I thought to myself how selfish of us children
And how unselfish of our mother to do so lovingly

It’s a shame of the lack of appreciation we give our mothers
All too often what they do on a daily basis goes unnoticed
An occasional “thank you” or “let me do that for you”
Would go along way to showing how much we appreciate them

And to my wife and mother
I’m sorry it took me so long to come to this conclusion

Oh Jeff!!! What a wonderful write...... This touched me deeply..... and shows what a kind and considerate man you are. I guess I have been guilty of this when my Mother was alive....
Luckily for me, I have a husband who cooks... and maybe I am also a little bit guilty here also...but I do help him out....and show my appreciation..lol..
Thanks for sharing this precious write...
Jenni

The words you wrote are so true. Many children expect to be waited on not giving a thought for poor mum

My daughter looks after us every sunday now and makes us sunday dinner.
My husband does most of the cooking so I am lucky this way to. I just do everything else lol

A fantastic write
