I’m so afraid
What will happen when you board that plane?
You are only 20, still so young
So much going on over there
But are you prepared?

I’ve already lost a friend
I don’t want to lose the one I love too
I don’t want to see your name in the paper
Or your picture on the news
I just want you to come back home

I don’t know how I would handle hearing your name read aloud
To see you laying in a coffin in your dress blues
To see a flag draped over your coffin
To see your body lowered down into the ground to rest

Please, just be careful
Please, just come back home
I’m not ready to lose you
So many things are still unsaid

I know your brave and want to fight to serve your country
I understand that’s your job as a Marine
But please understand where I’m coming from
Please just understand that I love you!
