To speak, and suddenly
One word is all it takes
And I don't know about you
But for me all it takes
Is a late night conversation
To make me feel it's no waste
And then I'm lost
I'm crumbling down
My defenses are evaporating
As if they never were
I'm forgetting all the hurt
Pretending you never caused me pain
I'm dizzy dancing through space
Falling into your arms for all eternity
Never letting you go
And never wanting to be gone
Then you open your mouth
To speak, and suddenly
One word is all it takes
And I don't know about you
But for me all it takes
Is a battlefield of words
To make me feel it's a waste
And then I'm found
I'm built back up
My defenses are strong
As if they never were broken
I'm forgetting all the love
Pretending you never cared about me
I'm walking firmly through my life
Standing on my own for all eternity
Never letting you in
And never wanting to be let it
Then you open your mouth
To speak, and suddenly
One word is all it takes

You open your mouth
To speak, and suddenly
One word is all it takes
And I don't know about you
But for me all it takes

Savannah: This was very well written and so close to home for me. I have also seen how mysteriously the mood can severely shift back and forth, all dependent upon a few mispoken or well-spoken words between a man and woman. This ebbing tide seems especially true when words are delivered in the dark. It seems that there in the dark the space between you can stretch like miles or be completely nonexistent with the very next breath.

hey savanna, I agree with Carrie's comment. Most of us have really strange mood swings that are a consequence of other people's actions. The ones we really care about are the ones who affect us the most. Can make us soooo happy one minute and destroy that mood the next by a simple misplaced word or unintentional comment. Trying to put up defense barriers doesn't work bcos they wield the power to shatter them. we've let them them in too close. Once again you've outdone yourself! a fantastic piece of work :))
