Array ( [sid] => 53875 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Poisoned [time] => 2004-06-27 06:37:47 [hometext] => I really loved her, I thought she felt the same.It was a shock to realise the truth. That fateful night, all alone I just drank to make it all seem better, but drank a little too much.Fortunately I survived to regret it, [bodytext] => I listened to the cheers, the laughter and the song
That hung in the night air somewhere in the distance
My company was silent, staring through a bottle at a faithful friend
Deep brown eyes echoed my sadness, I patted the head that hung to one side

Another plume of iced breath soared into the sky
Ten minutes more, till midnight dragged in the New Year
House lights flooded the garden steps where I sat musing
Two friends for the evening, one on other side

The glass drained like the others before
Its spirit unable to lift the heaviness of mine
Wondering where you were on this cold Winters Eve
In the arms of another, writing the first chapter of another broken heart

I loved you, naive dreams persuaded me you meant the words you spoke
My deepest feelings ripped to sheds as you cast my heart aside
The bitter pill of truth so hard to swallow
Washed down with alcohol to numb all sense of loss

Drifting, time lapsed into morning
Consciousness drowned, falling into liquid nothing
One last sip, a desperate toast to Auld accquaintance
My mind could not forget

Naked of all senses I lay like the dead
Slumped by the door they found me, poisoned and betrayed
Two days the sickness loudly sang its anthem through my veins
Then silenced suddenly like the rain of a summer storm

I am stronger now, I have survived
Climbed the jagged peak of my despair
As the poison left my body
The poison left my mind [comments] => 4 [counter] => 166 [topic] => 48 [informant] => puppy_dog_eyes [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 18 [ratings] => 4 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => EmotionalPoetry )
