Close at hand
And cheerful the hour sings again
A fresh start
That rips time apart

Sun and Moon
In steady rhythm
Paint day and light
So tenderly reborn and dark
This consuming light

As each cheering chime echoes
I turn a page and set a step
As a hesitant path unfolds its continual bends
And grasp the steady hands that carry me
These gentle guides without mercy
That sweep me without lingering
Into the next round

At the sweet dawn
I awake in the soft rosette
Of sweet promises
And I follow the cotton candy clouds
That lift me up
And ease me through
To the calling night

As the restless hours line up
Two dozens of grizzling grey
Melt in the intoning crowd
As the daylight seeps through
The creacks of my darkening course of life

Why do you hide in a gentle breeze?
Why do you disguise in the petals of the white lotus?

Where are you?
My sweet spring blossom
That inspired the rainbow
To give each painter colors
And made the angels whisper
Inspiration in each poet's head

O! Only the rain remains in unseen tears
And the canvas remains empty
O! Yet the angels scream in encouragement
To the exhausted on the edge of the bridge

Each striking hour that takes me
To a determined day that drags me
From you
Makes my heart a little emptier
You picture a little more hollow
As your image evaporates

And the humming of the bees drifts of
With the setting sun

*

At night, my darling
When the crickets call me
I step outside
And greet the winking stars
In silent resignation
As from inside
The clocks sings at me
In a salute to a new day
So much more gently in the soothing black
And my mood eases
In a soft sigh

The constellations go in silent rhythm
As do the days
Praised by a choir of hours
They move and never stop
And nor do I

I run the march
That is called life
My feet go havier, but my head goes lighter
As the end draws
And I speed up my pace
Because I know that behind the finish line
You will celebrate my victory

How inspiring and hopeful. I love this stanza best. "Praised bya choir of hours" WHAT A LINE! Wish I had written that!

This is a very meaningful piece of work to me, Hur. The line I cling to the most is: Because I know that behind the finish line
You will celebrate my victory. I know when the time comes he will be there waiting, just like he was always there for me in life. You just magnified feelings and thoughts I have as of late begun to live with. This poem comes at a crucial time for me and I thank you for sharing it.

Love,
Rita

O no!
It should be:

And the humming of the bees drifts off with the setting sun

Reading your poetry for me is like singing a lovely song. Front beginning to end......its so rythem and timing is perfect, and your words always lift me to another place.......all of your writings are like mysteries to me......I never know where you are taking me?
Exquisite Delight!
My father's name was Dutch too
