For when a monkey turns around, its butt is all you see
And I can stand all forms of torture that one could recommend
But a wailing pup and a bloody stump is where my wits do end.

But alas, this is the least concern of a world so full of strife
Where a darkened room and hanging sheet, bring all nightmares to life
Such foolish, unabated, childlike fears are not erased
And for sleep's sake, I removed that sheet and put it in its place.

Base logic says such thoughts as these must then come to naught
But even la vie en rose admits the cup overflow'd with rot
Put away your fears of childish years and conquer here this day
Righteous fools forget your rules, for you do not what you say

The sea will bring home all that's lost and leave it on the shore
Your tears will wash her waters clean ‘til you can cry no more
Head to the north, along the surf you lost and dirty souls
Walk only where the path is paved with hot and burning coals.

Bring down the heavens and lift up the earth
Do away with the pain and away with the mirth
Leave her to heaven or send her to hell
Fill her up slowly or empty her shell
Leave your dog a prosthetic, some pants to an ape
Forget all life's colors but remember the shape.

Not quite as silly as you made it out to be. Well, in the beginning it was. Nice flow. Good work.
