It all began when I awoke from along dream, Cold and wet caressed by the moon harem. Hunger, grumbles an inquisitive muzzle, All caused me too many puzzles. My surroundings seemed surreal, A rubbish dump had a homely feel. I decided to scout always on the lookout, Even though my legs made their own walkabout. Soon I was strong eating other peoples waste, That’s all I had after the initial distaste. Then the dreams came like a beast that would feast, Gesticulation swirls my thoughts like an artiste. A great surge of love swept through me, Lightning flash of faces who could they be? Voices calm, gentle, hands that would clasp, Was this really something from my past? Lightning’s stammering flare again faces once more cast, Realities pinprick brought me back once more, Cold wet fingers began to gnaw. I decided to look for hot food in downtown. Before the shops closed near to sundown. I was always amazed at all the hustle-bustle, Cobble streets, markets selling, or in general squabble. Tobacco, smoke, diesel fumes, food smells, All permeated from Hotels and smaller Motels. Hums of freshly cooked fish caressed my snout, Without a doubt a bouquet of local trout. Face locked in an almost orgasmic trance, Tongue lapped a hurried advance. I didn’t need to be imperceptible here, I had traveled this route all throughout the year. Shop windows seemed usual as before, But a store full of TV’s made me stop with awe. FLUKE OF NATURE PAGE TWO I could see myself standing in a suit as a man, Smiling, cutting eyes a stunning tan. Flamboyant, ambitious, face had it all, Eyes where boring almost trying to call. Then a tale wagged back coat now brown, Fur replaced a puzzled furrowed frown. Tottering away to the trash cans at the back of the motel, I find what I’m looking for by sensitive smell. Secluded and quiet I enjoyed the taste, Bolting everything down from overspilled waste. Paunch now repleted weariness overcome, I settle down to sleep to the generators strum. Trance like dreams human and wild, I can see myself smiling as a wriggling child. Faces snicker, voices mouth words, A mobile rotates to musical birds. Thoughts then dwindle to a celestial shine, Snores now apparent with a canine wine.
