Array ( [sid] => 53080 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Wishful Thinking [time] => 2004-06-21 21:43:33 [hometext] => This is something I wrote for an old friend of mine that I still love (his style of poetry rubbed off on me)...the poem pretty much explains itself. [bodytext] => I knew this would happen--
Even as he spoke the words,
I knew he'd go back to her.
Sooner or later, our time would end;
I wish it wasn't so soon.

I don't blame her--
She doesn't control his heart
Even though she owns it.
She's a good person;
At least I know his heart's in good hands.

I don't blame him--
He can't tell his heart who to love,
Just like I can't order mine not to.
He blames himself for hurting me again;
I wish I could make him see that he's wrong.

I don't blame God--
Why should I?
He planned this long before we were born
So I can't be angry with Him;
My plans weren't what He wanted for me.

Everyone tells me to forget him--
They say I deserve better
But they have it all backwards.
They don't know him like I do;
They don't feel like they've lost their best friend.

I wish things were different--
Maybe if I had the strength to tell him no,
None of this would've happened.
Maybe my friends wouldn't be blind to the truth;
I'll never know.

My feelings are no secret--
God and everyone else knows I love him,
But my heart can't take the pain anymore.
You ask why I said yes when I knew the end all this time;
I can answer you in two words...

Wishful thinking. [comments] => 3 [counter] => 224 [topic] => 55 [informant] => xtreme_emotions [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 5 [ratings] => 1 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => dedicatedpoems )
