Her perfect smile
Her perfect face
Those perfect legs
That perfect waist

That perfect dress

The way it fits her

You hit the nail on that one, A friend of mine had an eating disorder I always wondered what went through her mind. wonderful poem, sad, truthful but all together wonderful.

When I was very, very young (probably around 4 years old) my mom actually considered entering me in some beauty contests/ pageants. One day she went to one and saw all those poor little girls being told that no, they couldn't just go home and play, they had to earn it or that this is what you have to do in order to be pretty. That was the end of that. Could you imagine? I could've ended up like the girl in your poem.
Your poem reminded me of that. Thanks for sharing. You've got a wonderful way with words.

i've only been a member of this site for about a month, but i have found so many poems that i want to share with others because i think they are so impacting, and are a true insight into a range of different life experiences. This poem is one of them.

Reading your words I understand this girl's desperation about being seen but not really being seen....she's hiding her pain as best she can but wanting people to see thru her facade....

a great write.
