More than I can bear
Tearing me apart
I can only dream that
Ssomewhere
There is a better place
A kinder, warmer vicinity
Elsewhere.

If I don’t hope
I cannot go on.

So therefore I must,
Though so much I do not
Want to hope
For hope inspires
Impossible dreams
In a lonely and lost
mind.

They rain down
And you can’t escape
The droplets
Of wonder
Which erupt in your mind
Thinking of possibilities
Which are not possible
Dreaming of things
You know can’t come true
And it’s hopeless.

Hopeless.

Yet
Not always final, or
Desperate
For there is always a spark
A glimmer
Of light
That guides you
Gives life new meaning
New optimism
That feared you would never
Discover.

Showing us that
Life
Can be new
Even though nothing changes
Life
Can be beautiful
Even though everything is against you
Wanting you to fail
To fall.

Like rain plummets
These thoughts pull us down
To new ideas
Which give us a glimpse
Of the person inside ourselves
The being with whom we place
All our hope.

Falling
Plunging
Dropping
Diving
Tumbling
Sinking...
Into depths unknown.
