People Change

Contributed by Jeff_Scott_Morehead on Tuesday, 15th June 2004 @ 10:32:26 AM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

People Change
----------------------
On a corner down on main street,
A girl works for a fee.
Living for the moment,
No sense of purpose would there be.
Thankfully people change.

In a home in Chicago,
A drunken father slaps his son.
Built up frustration and tension,
Causes his son to want to run.
Thankfully people change.

On a bridge over a bay,
A tearful boy is ready to die.
Contemplates jumping to his death,
But the reason he doesn’t know why.
Thankfully people change.

In a car on the outskirts of Iraq,
A bomber looks for a crowded spot.
To do the most collateral damage,
In Hell his soul will rot.
Unfortunately some people never change.

I thought the poem was so hopeful and bright until I read the last stanza. I still liked it, though. I wasn't expecting that. And yes,

Unfortunately some people never change.

Nicely done!

There is good and bad in this world and unfortunately THAT will never change sadly.
