Array ( [sid] => 51919 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => One of my favorite singers [time] => 2004-06-14 16:31:48 [hometext] => This poem is about one of my favorite singers Ray Charles who passed away this week. I don't usually ask people to comment on my poetry, but please comment on this one [bodytext] => It brings a tear
into my eyes
a one of a kind singer
has recently died
He brought to us songs
that were new for their time
like "Hit the road jack"
and "It's crying time"

Tell me do you remember
"Ain't that love baby"
or "I've got a woman
way over town"
"The night time is the right time"
"One mint julip"
always rang in my ear
and I still sing
"Drown in my own tears"
Why don't you
remember with me
the good times he brought us
from the songs that he sang.
If you can't remember
or you're just too young
ask a friend whose heard of him
to quote you a song.

I am sad
I did not get to meet him
but his music lives in me;
he's one of my inspirations
Take a moment in silence
to the singer Ray Charles
who is now dead and gone.

Ray Charles is still today one of the biggest influences to my writing to date. I wish I could have gotten to meet him. I pay tribute to him with this poem. And I'm with you Archie......his songs were so unique.......there will never be one quite like him again! This poem for him is a wonderful tribute. I felt sorry for him......he died about the time that President Regean died, so didn't get the credit he deserves......I'm so glad you remembered him in this nice way!
He was so young it seemed.......I can still hear his voice.....and I can still dream just like you do. I wish you could have met him too!
Poetic hugs

I hadn't heard this till right now my favorite song he sang was
CAN'T STOP LOVING YOU.
He will be missed but he lives in song eternally.
Thanks for the sad info but I truly didn't know.
Very fine tribute as I'm sure he knows who you are as a Guardian angel.
luv, huggs,
emy

Archie

At birth noone remembers a thing.
Ray Charles could write and sing.
Death--his life is just begining.
Thank you Lord for Your giving
