I m living in the shadow of a dead child’s life
On the wrong side of living I live in the past
I remember back to when I was young
When partying and booze seem to be fun
But soon I was living in a bad part of town
In a cardboard box I than called my home
First was the beer you know just one for the road
Maybe smoke a little pot what harm could that do
Soon the drug dealers came knocking at my door
I grabbed my self a beer and ran out the door
Jumped in my car put the petal to the metal
I didn’t see the child that was crossing the street
Oh my god she must of flew at 15 feet
Now Take a look at this picture what do you see
A child who is dead because of me
And the gates of hell they now surround me
The prison walls are now my home
Being in prison it not a cool place to be
And as the years pass me bye
I wish I where free
Please say no to alcohol and drugs

My eldest son made a foray into drugs for a few years. I am sure glad he finally found his way out as so many don't. It was a difficult time for all of us. Drugs and alcohol are the greatest enemy there is of familes and life in America.
