my edges fading away
I'm losing parts of who I used to be
morn' to nite I'm used up, forgetting me.

They have problems so I listen
and I help though tears glisten
Because I cannot save them all.

I can take away the pain you feel
just listen to me, hear me speak
Your world isn't over that's not real
you're just having a very bad week.

I'm fading fading away
like smoke on the wind of this new day
You'll never see my face never meet me
I'm just that voice for which you pay a fee.

It's not just a job I do care
can no one hear me, anywhere?
Invisible by design

excellent write. i dont see why people would hate you because of your career; its only a part of you if you let it be. i think more people hate telemarketers anyway...

Hate you? Not a chance.

This is wonderful, absolutely beautiful, and a poem like no other. This is probably the only poem I've ever seen on anything like this sort of subject but if I'd seen a thousand on it, this would still be my favorite. Excellent job.

May things improve for you . . .

Great poem, I don't hate you and I'm quite sure other people won't hate you because of your job, well done to you

Cool poem. You sound very empathetic. I’m that way too. Helping others with their emotions can be as exhausting as rewarding. Just like exorcise except exorcise is more work than reward. lol. Good luck and try to remember the ones you do help. As for your job, people call you. It’s not like your calling them at 7am trying to sell them credit cards. So don’t sweat it.
