Array ( [sid] => 51390 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => 51 [time] => 2004-06-10 22:38:40 [hometext] => you won't understand it, but that's not important. i didn't post it for comments. i posted it for me. [bodytext] => the parts were hideously beautiful
filled with promise and malaise
ethereal friction brought the spark
that ended the beginning
for one part, at least

(not long)

the parts became a sum
a ghastly figure
that reeked of the desperate hope
afforded only to those
who never dreamed a future

several years
(or was it hours)
and the flame of love grew weak
(it's just what one expects)
nothing ever stays the same
(it's change that makes us better, right?)
one part just watches in amazement
as the other transforms and falls back

in all logic, they should be the same
but people change, you know?
(it's just what one expects)
she's not the one he used to love
and she never really knew him at all
never

for the sake of Nothing
we'll call these parts
25 and 26
(because one was always
just ahead of the other
or so it always seemed)
together they created
the only number
that they ever could

(tears like air
she has to have them
she seemed to crave the chaos
but when he delivered
she just saw him as the monster
that he always knew he was
and she must have been blind
to not see what he would become
what did she expect?
honestly...)

not the same eyes
that she used to love to get lost in
not the same lips
that he used to love to taste
and it's never fair or pretty
when the sum seperates
because one part is always much higher
than it was before
and one is always
much
much
lower

but regardless of division
the 51 will stain
and each part will carry it's scar
each part will move on in unease

(and for what it's worth
he almost wishes
that things had gone differently
he almost wishes that
"it hadn't come to this"
but inside he knows
it's all a part
of assisted evolution)

and their sighs shall be as empty wind
blown here from Beyond
and their hearts shall be as sinking stones
tied to stick thin ankles
and their remaining days shall be blessed, yet cursed
by a gnawing hunger and memories
and their hate shall outgrow their love
and leave ruin in the Garden they made [comments] => 6 [counter] => 209 [topic] => 13 [informant] => Cancer [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 5 [ratings] => 1 [editpoem] => 0 [associated] => [topicname] => DarkPoetry )

Rock on, thats whats important anyway, writing things for you.

But for what its worth, it doesnt matter if i understand it the way it was meant to be understood or not, i take my own things from it, and for what it has given me i thank you

Always,

It's heart breaking when two people realize that they don't have what they thought they had. I truely feel this poem. Peace to you, cancer.

wow while I probably didn't get much of this you told me that 51 was the number for pain. Whether this is true or not u used that number well and encompassed all your pain into this poem. I'm gonna go PM you now since i heard some distressing news.

Maybe I didnt understand it the way you intended, but to me, I understood what I got out of it. You are an amazing poet, Cancer. This is proof enough. Thanks to Vanessa for pointing me to this wonderful poem. And thank you Cancer for sharing it. 51 is the number for pain? That is the most abstract thing I have ever heard. Wow.
